Filipina Cosplayer Jerry Polence as Jue from The Animatrix

Fans of the Matrix franchise will remember the character Jue from Final Flight of the Osiris, the first chapter of The Animatrix, an anthology of animated short films set in the Matrix universe. The sword-wielding digital warrioress comes to life in this portrayal by Filipina cosplayer Jerry Polence, as she appeared in the famous virtual reality dojo fight scene.

Matrix fans will also note that Jerry reenacts some of Jue’s gestures in these photos — from sword grips to licking lips to peeking.

Jerry cosplayed a Ragnarok Valkyrie at Level Up Live 2008. She also cosplayed Final Fantasy XII’s Fran for the Flickers Photo Club in 2007, a PristonTale priestess for Netplay in 2005, and Final Fantasy X’s Shiva for Culture Crash Comics in 2004.

In the competitive cosplay arena, she won the grand prize at Animax Robo-Dream 2005 for her portrayal of Chii from Chobits, earning perfect scores across the board from all judges. She also won first place as Diva Erinnus from Cyberteam in Akihabara at Cosparade on Ice 2004, and Best Performance as Utena Tenjou from Revolutionary Girl Utena at AnimeXplosion 2005.

Apparently, Jerry’s portrayal is so accurate, one commenter on her Facebook page actually thought she was the basis for the CGI character. 😛
