Japanese-Filipina Singer Megumi Nakajima’s First Live DVD

Filipina-Japanese singer Megumi Nakajima just released her first live performance DVD, featuring her concert at Akasaka Blitz last April. True to her genki image, the DVD is entitled Mamegu Heave-ho! Spring Festival in Akasaka Blitz.

The concert features songs from the hit anime series Macross Frontier, in which Megumi plays the incredibly cute songstress Ranka Lee. The DVD also features a new performance of her viral video hit Be Myself.

Alodia Gosiengfiao Judges Anime Makeup Contest

Anime and cosplay have hit the mainstream so hard in the Philippines that even local makeup artists are getting in on the act. The Philippine International Cosmetologists Association (PICA) is holding a hair and makeup competition today, and one of their categories involves composing an “anime look”.

PICA President Fanny Serrano taps a real anime fan to judge for that category: Filipina cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao. He even asked her to blog about it. Smart move on both counts.
